Do you like the Toyota Prius? Seen the new Hybrid Lexus? We hear that Seattle has just introduced a new line of clean-air buses made by GM. Sure, it's good business, but maybe some of these corporate execs have caught on that global warming is not some crazed scientists' whacked-out notion. Maybe, some of them can see that in a few years the wind will be blowing the wind turbines round. Maybe, they get that the majority of the people in this country, a.k.a. their customers, don't want to see our majestic open spaces fall to the wreaking ball of oil exploration.

But, just when it looks like we're - finally - getting some love from Big Auto. Look out: Meep! Meep! Here's comes Wile E. White House after the Artic Wildlife Refuge again. There is no anvil large enough for these guys. They just don't quit. They're backing another proposal to drill for oil in Alaska's pristine Artic National Wildlife Refuge.

We've danced this dance before. The nozzle heads in the administration argue that we need to drill in the Artic to reduce our dependence on foreign-oil. TreeHuggers counter that the best way to reduce our foreign-oil dependence is to, uhm, stop using so damn much of it. But yet, somehow, the White House never seems to float measures that explore generating energy from clean and safe renewable sources - like wind, water and solar. Curious no? Yeah, sadly not.

No. No. Drilling in the Artic - in a small, 110-mile strip of coastline that is home to polar bears, musk oxen, wolves, millions of migratory birds, caribou and hundreds of other species - that is the ONLY answer to America's dependency on foreign oil. It doesn't matter that spills would be inevitable and that industrial disturbance would be immense.

And all that damage would be for what? A few months worth of oil! Governor Arnold's HumVee would eat up most of it in a week! Not much of a fix for this oil addict of a nation. It's certainly not enough to justify irreversibly destroying a pristine national treasure!

Sounds a little Looney Tunes, doesn't it?

We can't let this happen. Please help us by asking your senators and representatives to oppose drilling in the Arctic Refuge AGAIN!

And the next time you test drive that hybrid, tell your local auto dealer to holla at their boys in the White House, 'Give it up already!'
