We wanted to see what kicked the minds of these Next-GENviros into gear. Here are the books that get them fired up.

You Shall Know Our Velocity (Dave Eggers)
A really interesting book which is more or less about two friends traveling around the world trying to give money away (in short), written in a style that literally makes you breathless. Great for the subway!

Want to Read
Blink (Malcolm Gladwell)
My wife, Samantha, and I both loved Gladwell's The Tipping Point. It was useful in developing our store and in some of the eco-advocacy campaigns I've helped run. I can't wait to read this one.

All Time Recommend
On eco issues, Cradle to Cradle (William McDonough & Michael Braungart) is some of the best thinking on how business and industry must change in order to attain a sustainable future for us all. Big plus- book is made of a recyclable plastic, which means your lunch won't stick if you're reading and eating at the same time.

Globalization and it's Discontents (Joseph E. Stiglitz)
The title bears the reasons behind my interest. Always a good read for socially responsible pioneers.

Want to Read
Crime and Punishment (Dostoeyevsky)
I've been dying to finish this one. Timeless classic.

All Time Recommend
Tibor Kalman, Perverse Optimist (Peter Hall)
The visuals and content are stimulating and inspirational. A must pick up*

Lovemarks (Kevin Roberts)
An insightful book on how products connect with customers and the effects of marketing past and present.

Insight Meditation (J. Goldstein)
Abeautiful book on nurturing mindfulness and the ideology of Buddhism

Want to Read
A People's History of the United States (Howard Zinn)
I really believe that a firm grasp of the past paves the way for a solid future (that's part of our enormous problem with the current administration!!!)

All Time Recommend
The Natural Step for Business:
Wealth, Ecology and The Evolutionary Corporation
(Nattrass and Altomare)
This is an incredible book that lays out a framework of sustainability and case studies that disproves the mantra of sustainable = decrease in the bottom line. If IKEA or Interface Carpet can turn their entire business model around, increase their revenue, and have a hugely inspired/motivated staff, my question is what is stopping everyone? The benefits greatly outweigh any other methodology....This book is a true inspiration!
